Need help identifying power seat connectors + bonus
I am replacing the seats in my son's 850 with newer ones from an S70. I have a couple of observed oddities about the connectors.
There are two connectors under the power seats, a beige three-wire connector and a white four-wire (black wire looped) connector. Both are fed by two 12-gauge (one green, one black, the wite connector ones with stripes) wires and a 20-gauge wire with a stripe.
The connectors on the driver's side are the same; the beige and white connectors match and the power seat functions as expected.
The passenger side on his 850 is not powered, however, so the only connector is the white one.
The real oddity is that the wired white connectors mate to a female on the seat with no wires emerging to connect to anything on the seat. What gives? Is the white connector for the seat heater? If so, the green and black wires are the power leads, but what is the 20-gauge wire for? Control? Sensor? Circuit fusing?
So here's the $100 question: can I use the power leads from the white connector to power the beige connector and thus the power seat? And what do I do about the 20-gauge control wire? Is it fed into the computer somehow to provide a stop on using the power from the black and green wires?
The bonus for having read this far is, yes, the S70 and possible the V-series seats will work in the 850. The only caveat is that they do not seem to go back as far as the original seats -- maybe a loss of an inch. My guess is that the mount points were extended backward for the S- and V-series due to the demand for more front leg room in the latter '90's.
Thanks,
John Martin

RE: Need help identifying power seat connectors + bonus
The white connector may be the SRS connector, since the female connector attached to the seat does not have any wires connected to it. I have not had a chance to put a meter on the male end that is connected to the car to determine if there is power to it that could power the seat motors. And my Haynes manual does not include the seat schematics.
The seats are from an S70.
