2003 V70- Expected lifespan; how long to keep ?
I found a local volvo repair man that was recommended by friend, and very well rated on yelp here in the Ann arbor, Michigan area AND I have work performed where also they recommended having a total car inspection, so to see what are safety concerns, and other less priority repair needs.
To the point - my car has 215,000 miles, runs well but has some needs, they found one I know of ( catalytic converter is toast ) and others, struts/springs in rear, front steering rack w/inner outer tie rods, swaybar, and upper engine mount. They say car does run surprising well, but do recommend those IF we want to keep the car.
What do you guys think, do these v70's engines & trannies last well into the upper 200k & 300K miles ? Is it worth doing these repairs if we love the car, or do we unload this old beauty ?

Mine is a year older and a base model, rebuilt from salvage (apparently sideswiped). Bought at 214,000 for $1,300. So far:
Sachs front struts (PO installed Monroe struts, it rode like a truck)
IPD HD Strut mounts
IPD sway bars (base doesn't have a rear)
IPD polyurethane subframe inserts
OEM Control arm bushings
OEM Ball joints
Rear Sachs shocks (non-Nivomat, thank goodness)
New front ATE rotors and pads
Rear rotors cut down and pads (needs new rotors and parking brake shoes)
Vredestein Quatrac 3 tires (then a bad alignment job)
Nokian WRG3 tires
New Bosch coils
New Battery
2 sets of factory plugs
rebuilt Dashboard Information Module
Nissens AC compressor, Behr condensor, OEM belt tensioner and belt
Used power steering pump (because I broke the pulley doing previous repair)
Currently has an intermittent misfire issue. Struggling to track it down. New front brake hoses, lower steering column, and tie rod ends in the trunk waiting to be installed. Due for timing belt, water pump, tensioners and the PCV system replaced. Like yours, needs upper engine mount. Probably the mounts on the strut towers for the bar that holds it, too.
Also, Electronic Throttle Module, Central Electronic Module and Driver's Door Module likely bad. Now at 256,000 miles.
Engine and transmission strong? Yep. If everything around them worked, I think they'd run forever.
