Ive got a "need soon" note from mechanic that strut mounts/spring mounts need replacing and another mechanic said strut bearings where about shot.
So -- what is really important here ?

 

Unless you want to see your struts sticking through your hood, don't wait too long.

 

It depends on what terminology they are using. Some people call the bearing plate the strut mount. Some call the spring seat the strut mount.

The spring seat is what commonly fails and, as mentioned, will cause the strut to pop through the hood if not fixed. The bearing plate rarely fails and if it does, will not cause the strut to pop through.
