2004 v70 : air and heat both die
Greetings!
In the summer, when my air was working hard at cooling a very hot car, after a certain time, I would lose the air totally - and it just blew non-cooled air. After completely turning off the blower and air for a period of at least 15 minutes, the air would eventually pick back up (although it required a low blower and warmer temp setting to work).
Now, in the winter, the reverse has occurred. After heating for a period of time, I will lose the heat - and it just blows air.
It is sporadic - the heat/cool can work perfectly 70% of the time...but then that other 30% of the time, it becomes miserable.
I am not under any sort of warranty, and since the V70 is now my second vehicle and is lesser used, I am not prone to an expensive service charge to "investigate" the problem and have them not be able to duplicate it. (Which would surely be my luck).
Any suggestions / tips / information about what might be causing this? Is this a "simple fix" - or is it a "will cost the value of the car to fix" sort of deal?
Thanks for your help and your time.
