Default Freak Accident - 02 V70 wagon NA

My girlfriend bought a 2002 V70 non-turbo.

Recently, while driving down the highway, a large piece of metal was hopping across the road and ended up bouncing around under her car. This managed to puncture a hole in her oil pan as well as her exhaust.

Unfortunately my advice was not heeded and it was taken to a shop where they charged about 850 for bot pieces to be replaced.

This is not the issue. The issue is that when I start the car now, it feels as if the engine gives a good shake for a brief second before it settles in.
I bring it up because, prior to the oil pan being replaced, this shake never happened.

I don't know enough about these cars yet, though I plan to as soon as possible, but I want to know if there is anything in or around the Oil Pan that if messed up, could affect the engine like I have described?

Thanks for any input.

ALSO, what manual should i pick up for this car?
I've been a Honda geek for the past 12+ years.

Brandon

I would check the engine mounts.

Here's my input. Don't marry this strong, independent girl or she'll ruin your life.

On the vibration, the shop cut corners on the pan installation. Get it up on a lift and look for missing bolts on engine mounts, crossmembers, etc.

And Boom goes the dynamite

And to your suggestion, I am going to do this asap and when I find out that this F-nut not only screwed my GF over but did terrible work I am going to go after him with everything I have.

Any suggestions on what to do when trying to take down a shady mechanic?

BBB?
Police report of some sort?
Write a blog?
Contact the news paper?

thanks for both of your responses. I appreciate it greatly.

Two Part Question

1. What service manual should I own? how many are out there and should I have multiple variations.

2. Does servicing the oil pan require unbolting a engine mount?

Thanks
