Default fuel pump

I have a Volvo v70 2001 that i have a problem with.i couldn't get any fuel to my engine room. So i changed the pump in the fuel tank. But still i cant get fuel from it through the pump. I put the new one in a bucket with fuel. and took wire from the battery to the connections on the pump. But still i cant get any fuel from it. tried to change the poles also. any ideas?

Does its motor run? Is the fuel filter completely clogged?
You wouldn't be the first guy to take a bad replacement pump out of the box.

yes. the motor run. to begin with, it was parked at the store. and when i came out, it started. but when i put it in to gear, released the clutch and gave it power it died. same happend again and again to the battery was empty. Have changed the fuel filter at the engine rom and filled it with fuel. My brother in law did the great thing and filled the tank with wrong fuel 3 years ago. and what i did then was too take two wires from the battery directly to the poles at the pump and the old pump pumped fuel from the fuel tank without no problem. so i guess when i do the same with the pump now, its suppose to to the same. but no.
