Have a 04 Volvo v70 2.4l non turbo, how do I get off intake manifold bolt just under thermostat housing? Any special tools?

 

I have a few pictures posted over at a thread doing exactly this. I ended up using several different length 1/4" extensions with an end piece that swiveled. You have to be a little bit crafty and definitely patient, but it will come off. I think I had to put the ratchet under the radiator hose and gingerly go about it that way. Also, that bolt will hit the thermostat housing when you are backing it out. It will thread out with just the smallest bit of force, at least mine did. I was worried that it would strip the threads, but if I recall correctly, there were only one or two threads left on teh bolt at that point.

Thanks Shoebox for responding, that bolt was a doozy to come off, had to take off both thermostat housings to get to bolt, thanks again, Brian
