intercooler issues
Simple question, followed by background in case anyone wants to chime in extra..
I am told I may have a clogged intercooler which is contributing to oil collecting in the turbo output. So I am gearing up to service "supporting systems" to the turbo. Is the intercooler directly associated with the A/C such that I have to drain freon from the A/C system to service the intercooler?
I am doing a rather total engine rebuild on my 2001 v70 T5, including turbo rebuild, head service and valve job, new piston rings, etc. Intend to make a beauty and then sell it.

pretty sure the intercooler is bolted to the radiator not the condenser - you should research the radiator removal procedure for the V70 to get the low down on getting at the intercooler (ie the intercooler and radiator come out as one, then you can separate )
Not sure where US you are, but in sub-zero winters this might help long-term.
Had trouble with my 95 850 Turbowagon years ago - subzero starting problems. Air intertake hose collapsed whilst turning over, finally started when disconnected and re-connected several times.
Turned out inter-cooler was choked with ice over sludge buildup. My Volvo mechanic solvent-flushed out the inter-cooler in situ (I think it is sandwiched between rad and AC (? rad)) - no subsequent issues even at -30C starts.

Oil in the turbo/intercooler/hoses/pipes are consider normal in an old Volvo.
If you were going to sell the car, just sell it, no need to pour money into it before selling. It will NOT net you a high sell price.
