Default Maintenance

Hi, I bought my 06 Volvo V70 about 6 months ago. It has 133,000 miles on it and I've done some maintenance on it, however I would like to know when I should change the timing belt and is there a way to check when it was changed last. Also if you could tell me what else I should be checking to see if it needs replaced.

Thanks,
Michelle

Timing belt was due at 120k.

Plugs and fuel filter also due at 120k.

Usually they put a sticker somewhere on the timing belt cover, or inside the glove box, when they change it. To check the belt, remove the upper timing belt cover, push sideways the remaining cover then look at the belt. Turn a bit the engine to have a look to the full length of the belt.

Transmission fluid. 3x drain/refill (driving in between) or search for "gibbons method". Mobil 3309 is same fluid as Volvo at about 1/4 the cost.

If you live in a hot climate like I do (AZ), I'd recommend an external transmission fluid cooler as well. I put thermocouples on my transmission lines to monitor input/output temps. I'll soon be putting a cooler on mine, as I don't like seeing temps get much above 220F, and would prefer the fluid temp live closer to about 175F rather than 190F while cruising at highway speeds on a moderately hot (100F) day.

Your owners manual is the best source and guidance for the information you seek.

Looking back at this post of mine. I just had the spark plugs, timing belt changed, and general tune-up at Volvo. I couldn't find any place to do everything that I trusted and I'm not a mechanic.
Next I will have my struts replaced up front. I will still try to find anyone less expensive than Volvo in the mean time.
