I just picked up a 2006 V70 yesterday and so far very happy with it but it only came with one key.After doing some searching on this site I went to a local locksmith to ask if I bought a blank key if he could cut it and program it. He said he would not be able to cut it because it is made of steel and would damage his cutter, than i called a local dealership and was told a new key would cost be $390.00. Is there any other way i can purchase a second key for less money?

You can get a valet key, which won't have the remote portion. Still won't be cheap.

 

Valet key is $160 but every time i go to open the door it will set the alarm off until i put the key in the ignition.

 

It shouldn't. Those are your options
