new key program
I just bought a new/used key from ebay for my 09 C70. $200 bucks to get it programed at Volvo? What the? Are you kidding me? Do I HAVE to take it to Volvo Dealership? Or can I take it somewhere else. I refuse to take the car to the dealership.....
Through VIDA. VIDA is the diagnostic system that is used at volvo dealers. The only way to erase keys would be connect to the original car. With that car totalled that isn't going to be possible. You are going to have to be another key, preferably at the dealer so you will know its new.
I am familiar with the Volvo key arrangement up to my wife's 2007 XC90. And my 2004 V70 likewise came with a valet key and two remote openers each with a swing out key which turns a cylinder in the ignition lock, and can be inserted to turn the lock in the driver side door. I am aware that newer arrangements allow remote sensing of the key by the ignition system in which the operator just has to have the 'key' on his person.
What kind of lock does your vehicle have? Does your 2009 have pushbutton starting? Is your ignition and are your doors operated by traditional locks or is it electronic?
What exactly did you purchase off Ebay?

I have a 2004 Volvo S60R AWD 2.5 T 2521CC. I RECENTLY HAD the Ecm or whatever it is called. I call it 2300$ I don't have...lol but on the real car running great 2 days ago car starts running bad found out muit. Misfire new pugs and boots, coil packs good. At the same time put a new throttle body on it driving like sh** is there a idle positioning procedure? ( also when I give it gas I here like a lot of air being sucked???)
