Default New uk owner with a cpl of issues

Hello all, my names Gavin from the uk,
I have just purchased a v70 d5 2002.
I have a cpl of issues,
1.the drivers side electric seat does not work at all
2,the sunroof doesn't open at all
Also there is a message showing airbag service urgently required

I've not checked anything yet
I'm obviously oing to start with fuses etc.

Also what is the recommended service interval and suggested oil please?

Looking forward to being a member of the forum

Regards
Gav

That's typical electric issues. It doesn't necessary mean the seat or the sunroof are bad. Is the alarm siren working?

The airbag message is caused when the instrument panel or the radio are removed. Is the radio the original model? How many miles on the car?

Try disconnecting the battery for 12h, put ignition key in position II when plugging back the battery.

Hi oragex
Tbh I've never heard the siren sounding.
The radio is all factory fit,
It's covered 162k miles with 1 owner and fh
I've disconnected the battery tonight I will retry it tomorrow and let you know

Forgot to mention, both battery terminals. If the reset succeeded, the cabin ventilator fan button will be turned to maximum.

It's a good idea to disconnect the alarm siren which has surely leaked inside (has a small battery that leaks at this age). It's inside the right front wheel fender.

The airbag message cannot be erased but at the Volvo dealer (or anybody with a Vida plug in reader). The message was caused not by the airbags.

The srs message won't clear by itself. It was triggered for some electrical reason (not related to airbags) and will stay there until erased at a Volvo dealer. Better do this in the last place, after all other electrical issues have been sorted out, so the message doesn't come back again.

Also, the alarm message is there because the alarm siren module is either disconnected, either the battery inside has leaked and is corroding the circuits - possibly causing the seats issue. it's better to remove the wheel fender and disconnect the module (there are diy over forums). The alarm message cannot be erased unless a new functional alarm siren module is installed.

There is no way to tell why the SRS light is on without reading the codes. It could certainly be a bad airbag. And the siren has nothing to do with the seats.
