Exclamation Real scary shaking and no power!

this is the second time this has happened.

I started the car and it trembled, I had never had that happen.
I tried to accelerate and the car would no go, no rev no nothing. It would only reverse for me. Luckily I was in my driveway so it was safe, I turned off the car and then turned it back on and it was fine.

Yesterday it happened to me in a parking lot!
Trembled kind of aggressively, I reversed but could no go forward. It's as if the accelerator was making no contact with the gas?

No idea, it was very scary.

Has anyone had this happen?

It's clear that no one has much experience with this particular problem, and I'm guessing the range of potential causes is so huge that it's keeping anyone (else) from replying. I can imagine this being caused by a number of things, including intermittent connections to the ECU or one of a number of sensors, or even just power to the ignition circuit, etc. I think the prudent thing to do would be to get an OBD reader hooked up and see if there are any stored codes that might point you in the right direction. With the intermittent nature of the fault, it can be a bear to fix a problem like this... you never really know if you fixed it or not until the day after you sell the car... ;-)

Good luck with the diagnosis and repair.

Was the instrument panel working properly at that moment? If it didn't, it could point to a possible electric (network communication) issue, since the engine is shaking (misfire) and the transmission doesn't go in gear. Check out posts about CEM issues.
