Default Sluggish accelation.

Hi everyone.

I wanted to create a thread about my issues with my 2001 V70, and log the progression. I bought it about 1 month ago. It has the B5244S2 engine and it has done 243000 km. Replaced a rattling CV on driver side. I went off road with it on a field during heavy snow weather, but I managed to drive back onto road and home on my own with only the front bumper in the back, no other issues from the incident.

Last week I note that the engine would not accelerate when I gave enough gas to gain speed quickly. Furthermore I have to step down 2 gears in order to overcome a hill that the main road out of town. A hill that I could drive up easily in 5th gear until this point.
So what happens when I give gas? I think a lot of people use the word "sluggish" acceleration plus the engine vibrates like I'm about to choke it and there is no power. Pretty damn annoying when you're driving the main road in rush hour, right? This issue also happens in neutral gear with rapid throttling. The issue is most likely in the 1700-2000 RPM range when I'm driving and pushing the pedal. The only way to avoid getting the problem is by throttling veeeery carefully and always keep engine above 2100 RPM.

What I did today was that I cleaned the MAF-sensor, it was pretty dirty on the intake side so I was confident the problem was solved, and I did note improvement during test drive...
But no. When I drove home up that afromentioned hill out of town I got the issue again and not just that ladies and gents, I get a flickering engine light and also the display said to drive slowly and immediately service engine. 2 mins later both these warnings are gone, however when I started again the engine light is on permanently. I filled up the tank and put in Omega 992. Thats all for now, I'm visiting family this weekend and it is a 250 km drive to and fro so I'm really exited Perhaps if you have some words of wisdom on the matter I'm more than happy if you leave a reply. I promise to write how it all went down.

Have a nice weekend people.

Default Update

Nothing mysterious thankfully, just a faulty coil.

Well, I was about to suggest that. I would recommend changing them all plus the plugs.

Faulty coil packs have a way of melting catalytic converters too.

Hey, thanks I had this in mind too, and I wasn't quick enough to do that, I already have another one giving in.. Well hopefully its another one and not the one I changed Well if it is one of the other I just replace the one again because I have a tight budget right now, but if it is that same cylinder, obviously there is some more troubling issue. The plugs are the Bosch ones with 4 electrodes. Are they preferable on this engine?
