Default Sunroof not lifting all the way...

I tried to do a little research here on the forums (im sorry but im a bit new to this forum) and i found the write up for adjusting the sunroof on my `02 V70 T5, but i was wondering if the adjustment would allow my sunroof to lift up more then it does now. it only opens a few millimeters above the roof. If anyone has any info on this, it would really help out.

I took some pics to see if anyone can shed some light on my sunroof problem. I tried to adjust it, but i really dont think it helped. Its odd, the sunroof opens all the way, but in the ventilation position, it barely clears the roof itself. Actually when i close the sunroof itself, it sinks down about the thickness of the sunroof glass (and raises about the same length also.) Sorry for the huge pics, i had to use my Photobucket account to get the pics on here.

This is when the sunroof is closed all the way

Heres the sunroof when i push the button once for the ventilation mode

Now heres the sunroof in the ventilation position, notice how low it opens?

Looks like you have to adjust it when it it in the fully closed post ion. When you adjust it the back has to stick out a bit and the front has to sink in just a bit.

Ah, figured i was adjusting it wrong. So all i need to do is raise the sunroof as much as it can go, loosen up the torx bolts a little and then close it and then adjust it from there correct?

That should work. Not sure if they are like the older cars but here is the info I posted on them.

No when you have it in the "closed" position, loosen the torx and adjust it from there.

Yeah that video only shows how to remove the sunroof and thats not what he need to do. He just needs to adjust it and calibrate it. Now if I'm not mistaken you have to put the ignition in the first position and put the sunroof in the vent position and gold the button there until it moves a little more. Don't hold me to hose words I just vaguely remember how to adjust it. I can get you the correct instructions from Vida tomorrow.

Actually Damien, do you know how high the sunroof opens in the ventilation postion? Maybe im just over estimating how high it actually goes.

You really only adjust the position of the sunroof in the closed position. If the open or ventilation positions are wrong after the closed position is correct, you have other problems.

To adjust the closed position, open the sunroof, then carefully push off the top of the "bellows" by pushing the top of the bellows inward, away from the clips. Push the VERY top, and not the accordion folded portion, or it'll likely rip. Once you have the bellows out of the way, you'll have access to the four T20 or T25 (I forget which) bolts - just snug them up enough that you can push the sunroof up and down so you can test the position by closing the sunroof. As I recall, you want the glass surface 1mm below the roof in the front, and flush in the rear (but check the info you can find on the net to be sure). Set it very close to flush all around and you'll be pretty close, either way.

I'm betting that when you set the closed position correctly, the other two positions will be correct (based on the photos). On my '01 V70 T5, the four bolts were pretty loose (adding one more annoying rattle to the sunroof mechanism).

Im starting to think there might be something more to my problem. Ive tried to adjust the sunroof as best i could. I noticed that the driver side back corner of the sunroof still sits below the roof line (roughly the thickness of the glass), but the passenger back corner sits the way i want it to. With all this, the sunroof still slides open just fine. So im guessing...the mechanism on the passenger side might be a little messed up? Im not sure. Im not really sure why this is bothering me so much, but it just is lol

Did you tighten the t25 on the drivers side rear? I know it may sound dumb but you may have not tightened it all of the way and it fell down.

Well i actually noticed when i actually loosened the t25 bolt, that i couldnt adjust the sunroof no where near as much as i could with the passenger side. I havent done any measurements or anything, but it does seem the mechanism itself on the drivers side is not raising up which is allowing me not to adjust the sunroof properly. I`ll try to get pics tomorrow while im at work, that might shed some light on my problem...hopefully.
