Turbo? power loss...
Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum, but have been luvin my volvos for 10 yrs now. I bought a 2001 V70 T5 for a great deal. It dogs...I thought it needs a turbo but...
The fins spin nice..
the controller switch is fine..
hoses etc.. r a o.k
the gate holds pressure and its spring has a lot of spring back.
the gate arm has some play in it? o.k.?
I bought a new fuel filter, wouldn't it be nice if that was the problem?
It has very little power, and bucks a bit on the highway if you step on it, loses all power until you let of the gas again.
Could it be the Mass Airflow Sensor?
What do you think? Am I missing something?
thank you in advance!

I am a blonde--and a smart one. I just don't know enough about my 1990 740 wagon to be able to do any work on it myself.
I have the same problem--car loses power when warm and going uphill, gains it back again when going downhill. I have read all the ideas here and some of them make sense and some are Greek to me. But I plan to take my wagon back into my mechanic today, and I'm wondering in what order you suggest that he check things out (if HE even knows where they are!) Money is tight. He does not rebuild turbos.
Question: are the mass airflow sensor and the turbo control valve INSIDE the turbo, or outside? What advice do you have for me to get this thing checked out again in the most economical order possible? (Yes, almost everything related to fuel has been checked and replaced: filters, high-pressure lines, etc.)
Thanks for helping out a girl!
