Default Urgernt Service / Required

Stopped on the way home tonight to get gas. Turned the car back on and got "Engine Service Urgent". Got no codes from OBD reader. So got home and I turned the car of and left it till after dinner. Went out and turned on the car and got 2 messages now. "Engine Service Urgent" and "Engine Service Required" and now coded 303 is showing up on my reader. Now I know 303 means misfire in cylinder 3, but that cause checking engine light. Now let me add the transmission has recently been rebuilt by a indy shop. So could the misfire cause the 2 messages or something else be happing ?.

Sounds like the ignition coil has failed to me. Most people say replace the spark plug first.

Some also suggest just rearranging the ignition coils because they are interchangeable and see if it changes to isolate the problem.

By no means a mechanic, just trying to help people solve problems as best I can an avoid costly repairs/diagnostics.

Well it turned out to be a couple of things. So I replaced the coil, and the car ran great except the 2 messages remain on. So decided to go for a ride. Turned the car on put it into drive and something made a loud pop and the car stalled out. Tried to restart but it seem like I had a dead battery. So took the battery out had it tested and it good. I had recently replaced my belts and the A/C compressor was on its way out and the new belt made it go faster. So the bearing went destroyed my A/C compressor the new belt also. Sol its back to the shop we go........

Based on that, sounds like the Timing belt and serpentine belt was not correctly installed. Or you the mechanic failed to tell your normally idler and tensioner should be replaced at the same time. I am told every second belt change you need to do water pump. Especially considers how much work it is to get to the belts on a transposed engine like this. But nothing is guaranteed in life. You never know when these parts will fail.
