Drive the car around town everything okies 30 , 40 mph take it out on country roads or motorways after around 5 or 6 miles low drone type hum noise starts get s louder and louder ,stop the car wait like 5 min start again its gone for another 2 or 3 miles starts again , touch alloy on that side and wheel is hot could it be brake shoes heating up and binding or bearing ? car usually sits at door hardly ever moves and brakes would lock on just before i take it to garage and have to fork out for a new wheel bearing ,ohand it passed its MOT three days ago with no mention of bearingsbeing bad any advice welcome

 

Wheel bearings are not diagnosed by inspection. When they begin to get noisy you won't find anything wrong by inspection.


Regarding the heat, I think you have a brake sticking.
