Default Whooshing. Turbo?

I've got a V70 D5 (2002) Estate which of late has developed a whooshing air noise under acceleration and also at some constant speeds. Under (relatively) hard acceleration the power cuts in and out. The cut in of power tends to be accompanied by a puff from the exhaust. There is no smell of fumes or anything.

Is this a blocked turbo system? And if so how easy a clean-up job is it (out of five)?

Thanks
Ss

I doubt you have a blocked system. It sounds like a pressure leak to me. Check the air induction hoses & pipes for holes or loose connections. Also check all vacuun lines. Did you get any engine trouble messages?
