Default Your Opinion

Hello,

I sold my 1998 S70 T5 (188000 miles) and bought another S70 GLT (2000, with 106K). I've grown to love this brand and recently I got a new job and I'm thinking about an upgrade. I'm not in need but my current S70 needs some repairs (transmission quirky during shifts to lower gear, Check Engine light lights up without warning, and sometimes the whole shebang lights (yes, all the lights next to and above the CEL) and when that happens my speedometer stops working.

I'm not a fancy guy, I just need a reliable and dependable car. I don't like to be in debt either (bought both my S70's cash). I'm thinking about the 2006 V70R and I've asked a local Volvo service center (non-dealer) to look for one. If found, they would service the car, make sure it's good and running, and no after-sales worries.

What do you think? I'm budgeting around 12-15K. Should I fix my S70 or should I get the V70. I can get a brand new Toyota Corolla with that amount of money, but I know I'd have buyer's remorse when I drive on the highway.

Not in a hurry. Please respond when you have the time. :-) All inputs are appreciated.
