Default 2005 XC70 Transmission Pan Gasket

I'm looking for a transmission pan gasket for my 2005 XC70..

The Volvo dealer quoted $900+tax for parts and labor to replace it...seems extreme to me..

Any idea where I can get the gasket? If I can get one I'll just my local mechanic to replace it.

Cheers,

MM

There is no actual gasket. It's a silicone type gasket that is sealing the trans pan.

So you mean the gasket is actually attached to the pan and that the whole pan has to be replaced?

It's a liquid gasket that is applied with a caulk gun. Most of the cost is labor, not parts. But $900 is high. It pays 3.5 hours. Takes me about 45 minutes to an hour

You can save a lot of money by not using Volvo brand transmission fluid. The fluid is actually Mobil 1 JWS 3300, Mobil Corp. is the only manufacturer of the transmission fluid in North America. Volvo just puts it in a different bottle and charges twice as much.

I think you mean JWS 3309 and it is a specification, not a brand. Like an API rating for motor oil.

Mobil makes one, correct.
