Brand New Owner
Hello all,
I recently purchased a 151k mile 2009 XC70 T6 and am getting ready to do my usual "service every-damn-thing" that I do when I buy a new used car. Complicating this is the fact that I'm a rotary guy who loves RX-7s and has never owned a Volvo. According to the CarFax, the car was very dealership-maintained by the first owner. A year ago the car was sold to somebody who was not so... fastidious with care of the car. Mechanically, everything is good with the exception of the dreaded whine coming from the rear of the drivetrain. I have already ordered new filters for the oil and the Haldex, lots of little minor parts, spark plugs, and a bunch of Royal Purple fluids for the oil, transmission, diff, and brakes. There is a very minor shimmy under heavy braking so I am going to order an EBC brake rotor kit with Green Stuff pads, braided brake lines, and new fluid. 150k service calls for new fluid, so might as well get the whole mess done at once.
So other than changing plugs, filters, and fluids, is there anything else I should be doing or looking out for? Also, what are the odds that changing the fluid/filter in the diff will fix that whine?
Thanks all,
Jason

Hey bro,
I also recently purchased a 2009 XC70. Just the 3.2.
Funny that you posted over two weeks ago with no response, as I'm brand new here.
Perhaps we go to a different forum, as this place already feels dead and smells like old 240D folks unwilling to at least welcome new folks

Welcome to both of you - for the both older 6 cyl I would make sure the one way clutches work on both the alternator and the serpentine belt that drives the water pump/ac compressor. Either will seize and cause problems.
Do any 240D's still run? And yes they did smell bad.
