Default New owner of a 1979 242!

Hello all!
I just bought (on an impulse) a beautiful 1979 green 242 coup, it was love at first sight!
But after the drive home a bit of oil leaked and I'm sure that from today forward I will need a reliable mechanic.
I live in the NYC area and any leads will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
JP

Pretty car, congrats. A flashlight and brake clean are your friends. You might be able to find the leak yourself. Have you checked all of your fluid levels, cooling, oil, transmission, brake?

Make sure you find a garage that specializes in old Euro stuff, Volvo if possible. Mechanics today won't touch that car, even new Volvo stores. Better yet learn how to work on it yourself, you will save yourself a lot of headaches and cash, and may get some satisfaction out of it. Parts are cheap and procedures are generally easy.

Working on that, flashlight and brake clean in hand!
Still looking for a mechanic, I want a specialist to look the car over just in case.
Thank you.

I ordered the Haynes manual and I'm ready to get dirty, but still looking for a professional mechanic around NYC.
Thanks a lot!

Some of the local auction sites will let you score a good set of American made metric tools at estate sales at a reasonable price. We boomers are dying off and we were heavily invested in Craftsman, Powercraft, SK Wayne and other good brands. Good luck picking our bones clean.,
