Just like everyone that ever owned one, my 02 V70XC transmission is done. I rebuilt the valve body when it began acting up to no avail, leading me to believe something failed in the transmission itself.

Has anyone been into the 55-50SN enough to know the differences between the AWD and FWD versions?

The thing is, FWD trannys are all over for around $200. If drums and bands are compatible and I can pick one up for parts it would be awesome.

Lastly, does anyone know exactly why we can't just use a FWD transmission on an AWD car? In my 10 minutes of Ebay last night, the couple V70 transmissions looked like they had holes for the angle gear to bolt on. Software differences?

I know I'm not the first person to think about this, but searching brought no results.
