Looking at a 2008 XC70. Things to look out for?
I owned a 2002 for several years and though I loved it and it gave me very few problems after we turned down AAMCO's recommendation of a transmission rebuild, I wish I'd asked this question before I bought that one.
So far only major thing that seems to be wrong is one of the custom little Volvo headphones for the back seat screens is broken

I bought my wife a low km car (115,000km) 3 years ago. We knew maintenance was not a top priority by the previous owner as it sat for a bit but with some work it is a good car.
Here are the list of the things needed done over 3 years. Note the AM radio never worked!
1) the engine mounts/ torque rod were replaced
2) the fuel monitor needed replacement
3) serpentine belt and water pump
4) driver side door power window wiring became separated, so that caused windows and locks in driver side to stop. About $500 to repair at a Volvo dealer.
5) one fuel injector, very uncommon.
6) a control arm/centre link/alignment
7) the left axle shaft was rebuilt
8) we did a fluid exchange on the tranny as it’s never had this. It was black, like oil. So far, no problem.
9) plugs replaced last summer
It’s a lot of car for what we paid ( great deal) but it needs about $1250 a year to keep working. The left strut bushing will need replacing at some point. It’s a heavy car! It looks like a car you could work on yourself like my Camaro back in the day!
