Default OBDII fried CCM?

I was scanning my 03 XC70 while it was running and the blower quit. Anyone heard of this exact way of blowing a climate control module? Coincidence? I've replaced the blower, resistor and all (with a junk yard part). Anyway it doesn't blow on any speed. Most display lights work. SOMETIMES I feel cold air lingering near the vents in hot weather so I know the compressor works and gets engaged, but only sometimes. Thermister seems undamaged.

Depending upon the scan tool that you used, some of the tools will put the systems in "diagnosis" mode which stops certain functions. I have noted subtle differences between scan tools over the years.

I used to use Snap On scan tools, but frankly, their equipment is way behind others and now I use Matco. My suggestion is to get a better scan tool and go through the system, making sure to properly reset or exit the system.
