Opening Tailgate Without The Handle

Does anyone know it there is a way of opening the tailgate on a P2 XC70 without using the external handle? The bar that connects it to the latch inside has become detached inside the door on mine. Don't want to get into cutting holes, so all ideas appreciated!

Have you tried double pressing (could also be a press a hold) the trunk button on the remote? It should pop the door open. Assuming is it still operable.

I hadn't... but it didn't work when I did. Thanks anyway

All now sorted. Pulled away interior panel at the top and I could get to what I needed to.

It was a pain though, lever had come off at the top and the mechanism wasn't sitting right further down, could just about get in with a screwdriver to adjust as needed
