Radio and Infotainment not working
Alright this being my first thread hopefully I don't mess this up too much. I would also like to thank anyone for their responses and help beforehand. I have an '08 XC70 3.2L. Around a year ago the radio and infotainment system started to fail. I did not own the car then. The previous owner, my father, was told it would cost $1.2k to repair and replace the ICM as the module went bad. I was recently given the car and I have started to diagnose and try to fix this issue. The symptoms of this issue are the screen for the infotainment system not working, all of the lower lights and buttons work such as the heated seats and or the defroster and fan control. They all work but I cannot see the current values as the screen is off. The other day I removed the whole system and took it apart. Up till this point when I turned the car on I would receive no light from the screen and none of the audio buttons such as FM, AM, and or volume *****, etc did anything. I then disassembled all the parts from the system looked at them and put them back together and put them back in the car. I then tested it the next day and it worked perfectly for 2 starts. Later that day I start up the car and it doesn't work. I drive somewhere and restart the car and it proceeds to turn on, display the high-performance sound then go black and start up again. It does this a couple of times then it becomes stable enough to listen to music. I then drive and listen to music for a bit but it becomes unstable again and turns off multiple times before going black and not turning on again. Today I took out the board again and am going to try to clean any corrosion off the board and put it back in the car. I pose two questions to you, is this an ICM issue, and if so, what can I do to correct this issue without a. taking it to a repair shop, and b. buying a new ICM for $400. Thanks again for any help.
These folks can repair it - but it's $400, or they can transfer the program to a used part you provide for $229

The xemodex module covers that (if needed)
I don't know if that module is plug and play - or if it would need to be "coded" to your VIN to work. Xemodex offers "coding" (transferring your existing program) to a used unit that you provide - Perhaps reach out to them for a definitive answer before buying something that won't work.
I just bought a 2008 XC70, 100K garage queen with a couple of nicks. But radio does not work, the display works for climate items, and all the menus available through that interface, but hitting AM/FM/CD etc just does nothing. When you hit power you see a screen that says "High Performance Audio", but nothing pertaining to the radio works. Per the manual, I checked fuses in the back and under the glove box, no issues. I read something about unplug/replug amplifier under the passenger seat, not sure what's the amp under there? In the middle front under the seat there's a thick bundle of wires that goes into a bunch of connectors, like 10 or 12? Any suggestions/insights would be appreciated.
