Sunglass holder?

Default Sunglass holder?
Is this the sunglass holder on a xc70 2004 and if so, how does it open? Mine will not open by pressing up on the front. Here's a pic:

That is so weird because it totally looks like it should be the sunglass holder... Would have made a lot of sense to put one there. It even looks like it is hinged on the back and should open.
