Default Thermostat doesn't fit housing

I have gone to five different suppliers and none carry the correct thermostat for my 02 X/C70. They all want to supply one that doesn't fit the housing. The dealer and main volvo parts wholesale want to sell a complete housing with thermostat pre installed. After the last cam intake seal fiasco I hesitate to spend a couple hundred on PART WHEN I ONLY REQUIRE A $10 thermostat. So how do i trust their housing will fit my vehicle? Everyone gets my vin number at time of order and they still can't supply something as simple as a thermostat!? See attached photo I haven't been able to find this thermostat any where.

Sounds like your car is one where it is only sold as the whole assembly, but apparently you don't want to buy the correct part.

The later model Volvos have the thermostat and sending unit as part of a complete housing. Here is what you need.

The only way to use the old style thermostat is to swap the housing from an 01 and earlier model.
