Question, Should the bar that mount onto the upper engine mount and two points left and right have movement? Should there be none? If movement is part of this mount how much is enough, how much is too much? I just purchased a 2005 XC 70 and the movement is about 10mm front to back. If no movement should be there then replacement of these mounts should happen. Thanks in advance.

 

Every shop/customer wants to replace those - because it sits right in front of you when you open the hood.

Many cars came in with torn upper torque mounts. I would only sell them if there was a related complaint - usually a funny noise.

So, sure if it's torn or loose or you just don't like the way it looks - replace it - but the only place you will probably notice a difference is your wallet will be lighter.
