Default Upper engine mount woes

I ordered replacement upper engine mounts, both the firewall mount, and the mount that attached above the engine. I had an interesting experience, considering that everything I had heard was that removing the old rubber bushing was going to be a pain, and the installation of the replacement could be even harder. To my surprise. I was able to pound out the replacement upper mount with a rubber mallet, and that's when the fun really began..

I had left the mount in the freezer for a few nights to aid in installation, but I can't believe that it shrunk that much. Did I just order the wrong mount? I purchased the following mount:

Volvo Upper Engine Mount MEYLE HD 121299 9434263, 5149434263HD, 9434263E, 9434263 9434263M, 9434263, 514, 943, 4263, HD

I think I must've just received a defective mount. Any ideas?

Wow! I have never seen that before. Did it ever tighten up? If not, get a new one. I guess it is possible that your bracket has been rounded out.

I bet you could fix that with duct tape.... when I did mine, I used the IPD polyurethane solid piece - it slid right in with a little silicone grease.

Sorry to bring up another ancient thread, but after using a channel lock to gradually move the original mount back in place, it's becoming about a every other day occurrence to pop the hood and gradually slide the mount back to a suitable position to avoid rattles. I returned and repurchased another rubber mount to see if it was a fluke, but received the same results. I'm thinking about attempting to replace the bracket itself, and found this on ebay: New Volvo Upper Torque Arm w Bushing 62434345 3524345 850 S70 V70 | eBay

My question is, has anyone else else had to replace this mounting bracket in the past?

For the cost, buy a Lemforder

I think I will get two my self, at that price.

I bought a cheap one on Amazon and it did that. The odd thing was that I would actually warp the outer ring by squeezing it. You could never do that with an OEM. I think there is just junk out there. Go with a better brand.

Thanks for the additional replies guys, I'll go ahead and save $50 and see if that Lemforder works any better. My channel lock is starting to really tear into the existing rubber mount, and the cold weather is making it even more brittle.

I can get them now. I'll post a video next week announcing them and order several from the shop.
