Default 1986 740 GLE accelerator problem/ starting problem

Hi, I own a 1986 740 Volvo, I am having problems keeping the car on, We thought it was the mag flow sensor because it would not start, so we used the maf flow sensor from my 1990 760 turbo wagon, the car started right up, we drove it for like 3 days and it started loosing power, so it was barely moving to a point where it just doesn’t drive anymore. The car idles, but then when you barely touch the gas peddle it dies. When I put the original maf flow sensor back on and it will start and turn off right away, but if I start it and unplug the maf flow sensor it will stay idleing. I’m trying to figure out why it’s doing this. Should I buy a new one. I mean it’s obvious the 1990 maf flow sensor doesn’t belong in the 1986, lol! But it did run before it lost power, it didn’t work before until I started trouble shooting it so I’m still stuck. Can anyone help? Please! Thanks!

I found my problem, it was the catalytic converter, as soon as we pulled it off and started the car and reved the gas It was fine, we thought the replaced maf flow sensor didn’t work but it does work. We awill h e to replace the CC and the car will run cherry!!
