1997 960 transmission trouble
My brother bought a 97 Volvo 960 wagon. Body, engine, etc. in really good shape, although somewhat high mileage. After 7-8 months, the transmission died and he had it repaired or rebuilt at the local shop that had serviced the car since it was bought, and which is supposed to be the best Volvo shop on Earth and neighboring planets. Problem recurred about 700 miles later, and the shop redid the work. After another 700 miles, same result. When it died a fourth time, the shop said it was unsalvageable and the only thing to do was sell the car for parts, even though except for the transmission everything is in good shape. I can't believe this, and am seeking ideas or recommendations for a good Volvo and/or transmission shop located between Richmond, Virginia and the greater Washington, DC area. My brother's not much of a computer guy, so I'm acting as middle man. Thanks in advance.
