244GL no fuel to Injector Pump
Ok, just to clear up any confusion (because I'm still confused about what I have) This is a 1983 244gl 2.4 I6 vw diesel engine with a 3spd transmission.
The problem is, a couple of weeks ago the prior owner parked the car on a tuesday and on a thursday morning it would not start. The mechanic told her that it was an injection pump and that it would cost way more to fix than the car was worth so she bought another car.
I looked at it and told her it wasn't getting fuel to the injection pump which would explain why the injection pump wasn't actually injecting fuel. She said, if you think you can fix it, you can have it....
Ok here's where I stand.
The fuel pump solenoid by all appearences is working. I do not hear any electric pumps running either in back of or below the car. I pulled the carpet from the trunk and the only wire running into the fuel tank is the one for the fuel guage and the car is TOO low for me to get under it and see if there is an electric pump between the tank and the injector pump, though I KNOW there has to be.
At this point... I'm lost, I can't find any books on the car (chiltons, haynes, alldata) and though I am sure its a matter of an electric pump somewhere I don't know where to start.
HELP...
