Default 460SE overheating

Hello everyone! I drive a 460se 2.0 non turbo automatic in Colombia, SouthAm. The car's temp will rise to almost the red mark when driven with the AC OFF, even at highway speeds. When I turn on the AC, temp will quickly stabilize at the correct level. The car isn't loosing coolant, and only has one fan for cooling & ac, which makes the problem weird. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your input.

When driving with the AC off does the radiator fan kick in as the temp rises?

On these vehicles the radiator fan is interlinked to the AC system and comes on whenever the AC is on so that could be the reason for the temp stabilising.

Just a possibility.

Hello and thanks for the fast response! The fan does kick in with the AC off, and in fact it cycles properly (on/off). When on, the fan blows air normally, but the temp rises. Today I decided to keep on driving with the AC off, and the temp never reached the red mark, it rose to the 3/4 mark and stayed there. My mechanic tells me this is normal on 460s... Is this so???

I haven't had a 460 but my brother-in-law had one for a number of years and it always ran with the temp gaugeabove the halfway mark.
