Default '95 Volvo 440 1.9TD overheating?

Hiya,

I've got a '95 440 1.9TD and bit worried about the running temperature on the car.

Currently when driving it sits at about 3/4 or a little higher on the guage. Surely this isn't right. Not sure how to tell if it's a faulty guage or it's really getting a bit too hot?!

What could be causing this? There's no leaks on the floor when driving so assume it's not leaking.

I have not heard the fan come on at all, but then it's still running quite hot even at speed..

please help, I don't want to kill the car, only just got it and quite like it!

thanks
mark

Check the thermostat, it may not be opening fully.
