Default V40 1.9TD Intermittent Engine Stutter

[hr]
My wife's 1999 V40 has develpoed a lumpy stutter at low revs when approaching junctions and other slow road hazards.

It been to the local Volvo dealership and the ECM fault codes are: -
1123 Fuel Temp Sensor reading too high and
4411 Fuel cut off valve intermiitent fault.

They apparently cleared down the faults from the ECM and road tested it without the stutter reappearing ove a 20 mile test ride but 7 miles after my wife collected the car she got it again and we both experienced it later on a 10 mile test ride. The Volvo people are saying it could get expensive possibly a new fuel pump? I personnaly feel it is perhaps something simple and less expensive maybe a fuel system leak - I recently had to call out the breakdown after the fuel filter developed a leak after I had opened the drain plug to clear out any accumulated water and on retightening the plug and hand priming, fuel started flooding out of the top seal.

Any ideas please?

Rousha
