v90 brakes
I have a V90 and the front brakes have always been a pain. Regardless of how many times we've taken it to the dealer, the brakes always have a bit of a grind at the end of braking and continually "glaze" over and require constant servicing (btw, $800 to replace again and again...). I'm getting tired of it, and wonder if anyone else has had these problems with this model and/or solutions for it.

RE: v90 brakes
Tech,
I don't know the answer to those three questions; however, I don't recall the Volvo dealership folks ever saying anything like that. What they have said--several times--is that the rotors are "glazed" and it appears we're "riding" the brakes (as mentioned in my initial post we don't ride the brakes). The car is still on extended warranty but they say this brake issue is not covered, and I'm under the impression if we take it somewhere else for brake service, it'll void that part of the warranty. Another interesting tidbit, during our third or fourth visit on this issue, the dealership service guy "admitted" these brake issues are one of the biggest reasons the "V90" line was so short-lived...hmmm.
A motorhead friend of mine suggested I "upgrade" to a higher performing disk brake system, but what if the problem is in the plumbing or brake logic somehow and our issues continue?
Any other thoughts?
Thanks, Brian

RE: v90 brakes
Is your main complaint always about the grinding?
Back many years ago there was a bulletin That for warpage complaints before replacing rotors the dealer had to replace the lower control arm bushings and the steering knuckle.
The front end on these cars are very sensitive.
I have never seen this issue before.
I would have all the bolts checked in the front end as well and make sure everything is tightened.
If you replace the rotors and pads with upgraded parts that should not affect the warranty on the calipers or working parts of the car.
They would have to prove that the rotors caused the parts to fail which would be hard to do.
