any input on a 1998 v90,I am close to buying one sat. one
Hi , I had a 1993 240 standard but I was always shifting due to lack of power . I am looking for a safe ride , a little more zip , and rear wheel drive. the dealers around here have all been pointing me to 1996 and up 960,s and v90,s. I found a clean 1998 v90 with 94000 miles. I am suppose to pick up Sat. I have seen and heard good and bad about this car . Also my 93 seem to have a lot of " well they all do that" . Has volvo gotten better !!! . should I buy or should I walk away? I am driveing a 1996 ford t-bird and my toy is a 1966 cobra replica. She took me 3 years to build. thanks for any input on this one.

Hi thank you for your input , There where some very steep hills where I test drove the v90 and the car feels real solid . How hard is this car to work on ? Or will I have to send her out for every thing . I like to do oil changes ,brakes, and other mantainance on my own. I never did a timing belt is it much harder then a timing chain ? do you need any special tools to do this ? thank you for any input. have a great day...

The maintance is very easy. The car overall is easy to work on.If you have done a timing chain before then this will be cake. The timing belt isn't hard to do.You won't need any special tools as long as you have a Vise on a work bench.

John,
This may be too late (Sunday), but I have a '98 V90 and the front brakes have always been a pain. Regardless of how many times we've taken it to the dealer, the brakes always grind at the end of braking cycles, continually "glaze" over, and require constant servicing (btw, $800 to replace again and again...). I'm getting tired of it, and wonder if anyone else has had these problems with this model and/or solutions for it. The service guy keeps saying we're "riding the brakes" and that is simply not the case. We use to own an '87 740GL wagon (and other cars as well) and never had those brake issues. Having said that, I've been happy with everything else about it; it is a comfortable ride and good, peppy road handler.
Tech,
Any input on the above-mentioned brake issue? Can I "upgrade" the brakes to take care of it?
Thanks!
Brian
