Default '00 V40, Adding OEM amp to Upgraded Radio

My 2000 V40 has the upgraded sounds system option which includes the upgraded factory radio (I believe the model number on the face of the radio is either SC-813 or 816). It's an am/fm/cassette/single cd.

I recently pulled the radio out and see that it has two pin connectors on the back, one for an OEM cd changer and another one that says AMP.

I was told that this is the same radio that is used on some other Volvo models and that, on those models, an amplifier was sometimes used.

Is it possible to add the amp to this unit and, if so, how much of a hassle is it (I know that this is a subjective question...). I'm pretty handy with automotive electronics but would still need some advice as to how to wire it up.

Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks to all,

Mark
