2007 s80 radio
Returned home from 2 months away and radio is dead. Only functioned on FM - the AM gave up about 5 years ago and the mechanic said it was a $1000 fix so skipped it. Now it's completely dead. Could it be a fuse? Hesitant to look outside for a fix at moment due COVID-19
does the CD player still work? If you are getting lights on the unit then you have power - the check for the CD vs AM/FM is to see if you have an issues with the antenna/ antenna amp. If you want to shop for a replacement head unit you can try going used via car-part.com.
Thanks for the heads up and tips on this. The CD doesn't work. Screen is on - lit up white. It's not the fuse. I located it, removed it and everything, including climate control part of screen, went dead - put it back. Something to do with antenna??
If you don't get any station reception but can still play CDs and other Aux inputs work (and if you do a scan, it doesn't find a hit) then I'd suspect the antenna/signal amp. If you are getting no sound but the head unit display is normal, then I'd suspect the power amp which drives the speakers (sometimes you may hear a very faint sound or crackles etc when the amp is having issues). If the head unit display is wack - blank screen etc, then I'd suspect the head unit itself has an internal issue.
