hello. i have a 96 850. 8 speakers and four outputs on the head unit. is there a amp some where down the line. is so, where. any wiring diagram would help.

If you have an amp there will be a Din plug plugged in on the back of the radio in the Amp hole.

 

Also, the Volvo amps are usually located underneat the seat.

 

On the 850 the Amp is located behind the radio mounted to the bottom of the climate control box.
The amp is only located under the seats on the newer P2 platform cars.

 

looked at the back of the stock head unit. nothing comming out of the amp din. the head unit has four outs. two left and two right. does this mean that the eight speakers are being fed by four outputs. if so then the power output would be cut in half. if there is a amp somewere then it would have to come off of the amp out, not a pre amp out. any ideas. thanks

 

If nothing is plugged into the back of the radio in the amp spot you don't have an amp.
I believe the wires seperate and feed all speakers.

The factory amps aren't all they are cracked up to be.

Factory amps never are. I even used a Jensen amp from eBay on my last beater and it sounded far better than the OEM!
