940 rear speakers 1993
My rear speakers were blown when I bought my 940, so I bought just some run of the mill cheap speakers (cheap is better than none). I can sloide and lift the speaker covers off and remove the two screws, however my problem is it appears the rear speaker is sandwiched between the reaer deck that is between the rear window and back seats. I cannot just lift the speakers out.
How do I get this deck out without removing the rear window or seats (the seats do not fold down). Any suggestions?

If I understand your problem correctly, you can go into the trunk (boot) and there should be four small nuts attached to a threaded stud that is part of the speaker. If you unscrew those you should be able to lift the entire speaker out. The speaker cover is two piece and you should be able to use a screwdriver to take it apart. I've never taken mine apart but I assume that once you get the cover apart you should be able to remove the speaker. The OEM speakers are 6" x 9" but you can't fit an aftermarket 6" x 9" speaker inside the existing cover. You should be able to get a 5" x 7" to work with minor modifications. Hope this answered your question.
