Default Bad AM interference

I just installed my IPOD adapter into the rear of my OEM stereo, into the changer port. It works pretty good but there is some high pitched whine that comes from the stereo inthe changermode (used for the iPod) AND now my AM stations are coming in terribly! I grounded it to a bolt underneath the glove compartment as the DIY manual suggested. Please help!

USA Spec PA11-VOL IPod Adapter for Volvo S60/S70/S40. The one I got actually says it a "hybrid version" where you no longer have to mess with the dipswitches but you still can. I talked to a friend of mine who thinks that since I wired it into the harness in the SAME port as the power to the radio, its picking up all kinds of interference.

And to answer the other question..no the AM stations are coming in with lots of static and the FM stations work fine except a couple are always looking for signal...

he's right. You need a Radio Suppression Relay in line with the power supply or a Ground Loop Isolator in line with the grounding.
