My 1997 Volvo 960's Cd player/ radio won't work. At first it read code and I pressed 1,2,3,4, in that sequence but now it says off and will not play the radio or CD's what do I do?

 

you need to find the radios internal code. Your best bet is to go to a dealer and give them your vin number and they should be able to give you the radio code. Or even check your cars manual, it may be written on the inside cover (thats where I wrote mine). Then disconnect your cars battery for 1 minute, reconnect and then enter the appropriate code.

 

It is a 4 digit code. There may be a credit card sized card in your owners manual with the code. Otherwise, yes the dealer can get it for you if you have the VIN for the car. Some will give it to you over the phone and some will make you bring the car to dealership so they can insure you own or have the vehicle in your possession. However, I don't think you have to disconnect the battery prior to entering the code.I think you just turn the key on, turn the radio on and then enter the code.
