I agree. Do you have the 6 or 12 speaker system? I have the 6 speaker system and I think it really sounds good. I plan on installing an amp and sub from my last car. Did you tie into the existing speaker wire (with LOC) or is there an RCA out on the head unit? Also, do you know where the factory amplifier is located?

I JUST FOUND OUT THAT VOLVO HIDES THE EQUALIZER CONTROLS IN THE S80 T6,
its amazing you can control all the speakers, the mid's, the high's, the lows, for all the speakers.....
i was very surprised to see that feature(equalizer) in a stock deck, makes the music sound a lot better!!!!

RE: Great stock stereo in the s40
i just started to piece together a system myself... however, im starting to hit a bump in the road.
what i have so far:
Legacy 1600W (800x2ch) amp
Pioneer 10" sub (800Wpk)
I dont need an insane system, so im not really interested in dual subs, hence only a single 10". the speakers in the doors are 4" dual cones. i havent replaced them, but planning to.
the bumb is this - i have not seen any 4" duals that can handle 200W power... i was planning on CH1 for the front 4 speaks, so 200w/speaker, and CH2 for the sub (800W). just so far on lookin around, i think i'll have to go a dual sub setup anyways, and get a 2nd smaller amp, like a 400W-4ch (100W/ch). this is similar to a setup i had in my highschool ride, an 84 Ford Bronco II. in that, i had a Dual 12" mtx subbox, 6x9"s in the door, and 3x6" plates in front dash. 2 amps, 1000W (500Wx2ch for subs) and 200W (40W, 40W, 60W, 60W). it sounded great, but now that i look back, i dont need all that now.
what would be some ideas with this amp? maybe a website to 200Wpk 4" duals would help, i havent found one yet.
