Question Radar Detectors

Okay so I understand cops come out after thanksgiving a **** ton(saw 10 people pulled over in 2 hours after thanksgiving day) but I still see a ton! Also they have been really cracking down on tinted windows this month, my 3 friends with lighter tint then mine got 100$ fines and had to get removed, so ive been sketched out; I need my tint!!!!!!!!!!! So I need an radar detector, because I know if I get pulled over they'll get me for tint.

So basically out of all that just wanna know a few things..
what types of radar detectors are there and what works best for under 250$ although I wanna try and spend around 125-150 but if theyre crap then ill go up to 250 for a good one. what are your thoughts on them, and if you were happy with some send me the link!

thanks guys.

I've been doing research for a while now and I seem to get unanimous verdicts that you should go for the more expensive detectors as the others scream out to the police's own detectors. Everything i've seen points to the V1 or the passport 9800 or something along those lines.

I have two Escort 8500 x50's. Bought mine from eBay and they are refurbished and have a 1 year warranty. Both of the models above are great but you will part with a lot of money. I've had Escort radar detectors for almost 30 years and have never regretted having bought one. You can take a chance and get one cheaper but having a warranty and not paying full price for a new one was a win win for me.

On a humorous note. Buddy's wife wanted one and he bought one for her. Quickly got a ticket and couldn't understand why. Had to tell her that when it went off you need to slow down. Yes, she was a blond.
