Satellite Radio Help
Igot an'08 XC70, they don't install Sirius in European delivery, so got $95 "Sirius prepared" option, but don't understand what kind of tuner or receiver I need to get Sirius subscription. Do I have to use dealer, or can I get a less expensive after-market device? Actually, I'd rather have XM - can I get XM tuner/receiver with my Sirius preparation?
Sharing info from local dealer, in case others are interested. Module and antenna needed to get Sirius service costs $319, plus 1 hr install, download software, etc. for $408 total. Antenna goes behind bumper; that cable and others in place, so it's a clean installation and existing radio controls Sirius, displays stations, etc. Dealer cannot set it up for XM. Absent further info, I'll wait a month or two to see if the XM/Sirius merger results in cross-discounts in subscriptions, as I have XM in my truck.
Here's the end of the story... only option is dealer-installed Sirius unit and antenna, but it's a good deal. We did not order the $1650 dynaudio package - only the $95 Sirius preparation - but our 08 XC70 came with a 6-CD radio. Had the Sirius module installed on Friday for around $400, Sirius is controlled and displayed on the radio that came with the car, and we got 6-mo complimentary Sirius subscription.
