I have an 06 s60 with the standard HU-650 stereo with the additional rear shelf speakers. I love this vehicle it has just about all of the options except the upgraded stereo. I thought is was good when purchased but was wrong. I have a limited budget $500 and need some suggestions of things i could do to get better sound. I dont want to change the appearance of the car at all so i would likely need to stick with the HU-650 console but would upgrade speakers or other items as long as they fit within the same door frame without alteration. anyhelp is appreciated.

 

I've seen people sell the complete 803 setups (HU, Amp, Speakers)for under $500.

$500 will also buy you anice sub and amp.

keeping the stock hu the $500 budget is very doable. What i'd suggest is to get a nice coaxial set up front, a four chan amp and a sub. keep the stock rear speakers if you want rear fill.
